Motion Graphics & VFX

Motion Graphics and Animations

-Logo stingers, openers & closers, titles, lower thirds, infographics, Full animations etc.

Although Motion Graphics and Animations are quite similar, motion graphics are generally used in addition to footage. Animations on the other hand, are typically stand-alone and not used along with footage. The goal for both however, is to assist in telling the story and / or visually displaying data in an easy to understand way.

Visual FX

Visual Effects are meant to fully immerse the viewer in a believable world. This is done by removing distracting elements and directing the gaze of the viewer. It’s also the addition of objects to make the scene more believable or to transport the subject into a different realm. VFX is the “final touch” to a video, and is often what makes the difference between a good video and a great video. If the visual artist does their job correctly, no one should notice. It cannot be executed correctly without proper planning and foresight during pre-production. Many scenes need to be filmed in a particular manner, or a have a "clean plate” for VFX to be applied to. This is why extensive storyboards are drawn up prior to filming and why I don’t edit other people’s footage.

Product Videos

Problem:

3D renderings of products are costly, time consuming and rarely look realistic. This creates mis-trust from the consumer stand point. Consumers want to see the real product before purchasing (kick the tire). Online shopping has taken this away. Giving them a computer generated replica does not help the situation. They want to see the real thing before making a decision.

Solution:

Through strategic filming and post-production I’m able to give a full view of real products as part of promotional and educational pieces. This approach looks better, is more cost-effective, and boosts consumer confidence.
